Living out the Charism of the Sisters of St. Casimir, we are called to follow their mission of faith and service. Committing ourselves to awareness and involvement within our community shapes us to be women of strong character, whose lives reflect the love of God.

Purpose of Service

Service is intended to be a learning experience.

Students are encouraged to seek new and unfamiliar populations in environments that stretch their comfort zones.
Students should choose an agency or organization that provides direct contact with people. In doing so, our students will grow in deeper understanding of themselves while serving community needs.

Service is also an opportunity to explore career paths, interests, and strengths you might bring to the workforce.

If you have ideas about what job you would like as an adult, this is a good time to pursue it, try it out, and demonstrate your interest.
If you are open to possibilities, then try out something new and see what you learn.

Outside Service Opportunities

Consider who you would like to spend time with: the elderly, the poor, the sick, the disabled, animals, or children. When you call a potential service site, introduce yourself as a student of Villa Joseph Marie, ask about their current needs, and offer your available times.

We encourage you to complete your service with one organization, if possible. By this we mean serving all 10 hours (or more!) a year with one site. This gives you time to practice commitment, to build relationships, and to learn more about what it would be like to work with that organization.

Serve with Mission and Ministry

Community Service Corps

Community Service Corps (CSC) is the largest club at Villa. This group links our school family to the local neighborhood. Witnessing and responding to the needs of people who live in different realities than ourselves, we aim to understand more about our world. The goal of our monthly meetings is to serve various populations (elderly, at-risk children, hungry, homeless). CSC members spend time at meetings engaged in active projects to serve the needs of our larger community.

Charitable Fundraising

Our students' success in raising money for the Four Diamonds Fund over the course of five years was a testament to their generosity for philanthropic organizations. Beginning in the fall of 2017, Villa students began submitting proposals for new fundraising ideas to continue to expand Villa’s student giving and impact more people with diverse needs in our community. Many exciting fundraisers have continued, as follows:

2019: Color Run to benefit CRS
2020: Hope-a-thon (postponed due to pandemic)

2021: Hope-a-thon to benefit Bringing Hope Home and Drew's Hope

2022: Hope-a-thon to benefit Think Hope
