Kate Abel Memorial Basketball Tournament

Villa Joseph Marie will hold the 7th annual Kate Abel Memorial Basketball Tournament on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Named for a 2009 Villa graduate who was killed by a drunk driver in 2014, our basketball showcase tournament features teams from the Bucks County area, as well as numerous Villa Alumnae who gather for an Alumnae basketball game. All proceeds benefit a scholarship for Villa Joseph Marie High School in Kate's name.

The Abel family and Villa Joseph Marie thank you for supporting this amazing event in remembrance of Kate. We're confident that Kaitlin's memory and example of selflessness will be preserved through this scholarship. CYO teams are already committing, and we anticipate strong turnout from both players and guests. Your support as a corporate sponsor would help us go even farther. Sponsors provide a product or donation for the event (t-shirts, snack bar, etc.), and in return, your company receives promotion on event signage, Villa Joseph Marie social media, and our website.

Schedule and Information for the Day Of the Events

9:30 a.m. Welcome
10:00 a.m. The Alumnae Basketball game will kick off the tournament!
CYO Games will then run throughout the day.
Spectator admission for the tournament is $5.00.
Snacks, t-shirts, 50/50 raffles, and raffle baskets will be available throughout the tournament.
When time permits, between-game contests (Free Throw, Three Point Shooting, etc.) will be coordinated.
Raffles will be pulled at the conclusion of the basketball tournament.

Teams

Varsity teams of 7th/8th graders are invited to play in this showcase tournament. Registration is $200 per team to enter and will include a t-shirt for each player.
Games will continue throughout the day.
Games will be regulation length (four 7-minute quarters).
Note: This is a showcase tournament. First, second, and third place awards will not be made.
