COURSE SELECTION DISCUSSION NIGHT Wednesday, February 5, 2020 7:00–8:00 p.m., Main Hallway Both parents and students are invited.
The course selection night is an opportunity for families to dialogue with teachers about specific course selection questions. There is no formal format for the evening. Rather, representatives from each department are available to answer specific questions about prerequisites, course sequences, rigor, and more. This event is not mandatory. (Current students: Your daughters will have discussions in all of their classes, as well as scheduled appointments with our counselors where they will receive guided recommendations.) If you are unable to attend on February 5, you are welcome to email the individual department teachers, guidance, or Mrs. Carr, and they will be happy to answer any questions related to next year's (and subsequent years') schedule for your daughters. To view a PDF of the 2020-2021 Course Descriptions, visit www.vjmhs.org/academics/courseselection.
Questions? Contact Lauren Gaughan Carr '00, Principal, at lcarr@vjmhs.org or 215-357-8810, ext 195.
GROWTH MINDSET PARENT PRESENTATION Tuesday, February 11, 2020 7:00–8:00 p.m. Please RSVP by clicking here by Monday, February 3. This event is for parents only. It will mirror the presentation given to current students on Thursday, December 12, 2019.
Kendy Schiffert from the Bucks County IU will come to speak with parents about tools that our students can use to handle stress and engage in better academic strategies. This is part of an educational program series to reduce student stress and an overall effort to support our students. Prior to the student presentation, we provided parents with a video link to learn more about what Growth Mindset is. For your convenience, it is noted again here: 10-minute video on Growth Mindset from creator Carol Dweck. We hope that providing parents with this presentation, in addition to the students, will promote a united mindset in giving our students the support and encouragement that they need to succeed.
