Student Spotlight ![]() Leadership and Healthcare This summer, Elizabeth Iwasyk '20 represented Villa at the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) and participated in their Health and Sciences Program at Harvard Medical School. This provided Liz with an opportunity to learn about Medicine and Health Care Career options and to develop leadership skills. Liz joined with students from around the country and internationally to hear guest speakers with medical backgrounds, while also participating in activities such as suturing, drawing blood and dissections. Group work included diagnosing the conditions of simulated patients, along with a presentation to program directors upon the conference conclusion. This was an amazing experience!
![]() Robotics Amelia Fisher '20, alongside Mr. Petcaugh (VEX Robotics Coach), presented at a conference on Saturday, September 21, at West Catholic Preparatory High School. Amelia's presentation detailed the necessary steps to build a successful VEX Robotics team.
In the Classroom ![]() Ms. Preedy's AP Environmental class set up bottle ecosystems, and Mrs. Leaper's Forensics class did a food analysis mystery lab.

Athletics News & Notes Becky Flynn Hensel '99, Athletic Director | VJMAthletics@vjmhs.org ![]() Cross Country The cross country team finished 7th out of 21 teams at the George School Invitational. Meredith Glunz '23 led the way for the Jems with a 7th place finish in a time of 19:45. Captain Lily Dineen '20 finished 26th, running her best time of the season so far. Other members of the team running their best times of the season included captain Chloe Niemczak '20, Katie Labay '23, Gianna Fiduccia '21 and Sydney Hageman '21.

![]() Sailing Sunday had beautiful sunshine but little wind for the 2nd regatta in the 8 week series.
During the summer months Olivia Burke '23, Mackenzie Smith '20, Devin Smith '22, and Dillan Smith '23 participated in 7 South Jersey regattas traveling from Cooper River to Cape May. Mackenzie, in the laser 4.7 fleet , placed 3rd overall. In the 420 fleet, Devin placed 4th and Dillan 6th.
We are still recruiting for the sailing team. We will help you learn to sail. Please contact captains Mackenzie or Devin Smith or parent liaison Lisa Smith if you have any interest.

Parent Ambassadors: We Need Your Help! In anticipation of a busy recruiting season, all parents are invited to become a Villa Parent Ambassador. Parent Ambassadors will share in recruitment by assisting with the Villa Open House on October 6; volunteering to speak with prospective students and parents at local High School Nights; volunteering to assist at the Villa Entrance/Scholarship Exam on October 26; and/or volunteering to host informal information sessions at your home or local coffee house for friends and neighbors. Not only will you be advocating for our Jems and school, but you will meet other Villa parents! This is a great way to give back to our school.
