Kate Abel Memorial Basketball Tournament

Villa Joseph Marie will once again hold the Kate Abel Memorial Basketball Tournament on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Named for a 2009 Villa graduate who was killed by a drunk driver in 2014, our basketball showcase tournament features teams from the Bucks County area, as well as numerous Villa Alumnae who gather for an Alumnae basketball game. All proceeds benefit a scholarship for Villa Joseph Marie High School in Kate's name.

The Abel family and Villa Joseph Marie thank those that support us in remembering Kate with such an amazing event. We are confident that Kaitlin’s memory, and the example of selflessness she portrayed, will be preserved and awarded through this scholarship. Already, CYO teams are committing to participate and we anticipate a large turnout of both players and guests. Our efforts would go even farther with you as an official corporate sponsor. In this role, your business would provide a product or donation to support something for the day of the event (t-shirts, snack bar, etc.). In turn, your company would be promoted as an official sponsor in the video which will be played throughout the event, on promotional signage which will be displayed, and on Villa Joseph Marie social media and website platforms.

Teams

Schedule and Information for the Day Of the Events

Games will run all day until 5:00 p.m.
Spectator admission for the tournament is $5.00.
Snacks, t-shirts, 50/50 raffles, and raffle baskets will be available throughout the tournament.
When time permits, between-game contests (Free Throw, Three Point Shooting, etc.) will be coordinated.
Raffles will be pulled at the conclusion of the basketball tournament.
The Alumnae Basketball game will conclude the tournament at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Teams

Varsity teams of 7th/8th graders are invited to play in this showcase tournament. Registration is $200 per team to enter and will include a t-shirt for each player.
Games will continue throughout the day.
Games will be regulation length (four 7-minute quarters).
Note: This is a showcase tournament. First, second, and third place awards will not be made.
