On Sunday, March 27, 2022, Villa Alumnae gathered on campus and via Zoom for the Annual Alumnae Association General Meeting. Attendees heard from Villa administration on what’s been going on at Villa and what’s to come. The Alumnae Association Leadership Team reviewed the Association’s priorities, past events, planned events and previewed ways for Alumnae to get involved. Alumnae participation in events and contribution to Villa is critical to the long-term sustainability of the school and there was robust discussion around how to achieve that goal.
Meeting participants openly shared their perspective and ideas on ways to increase Alumnae engagement, ways to overcome challenges that affect participation in events and fundraising and new and fresh ideas to implement as the Association, like everyone, starts to move past the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Below are just a few of the many action items the Association plans to implement.
-
Communications: To ensure we reach our 4,000+ alumnae base, we will implement a mix of communications methods including E-mail, a digital Alumnae Newsletter, and Villa social channels including the Private Alumnae Facebook Group, the Villa Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn page. If you think your contact information may be outdated, please send us your updated information using this brief form.
-
Storytelling: Villa Alumnae are doing so many wonderful things in their communities, in their careers, in life and at Villa – and we want to tell their stories. Thinking of someone to spotlight? Maybe it’s yourself? Reach out to Mrs. Murway (cmurw@vjmhs.org) to nominate yourself or another Villa sister so we can tell their story.
-
Events: Family-oriented events have been the most successful Alumnae Events to date so the Association will focus on those in the near-term. We will also be planning to hold a networking event locally in the Fall. Support is needed on the Social Planning Committee so if you have any ideas or want to help, please contact Anna Dailey (daileyanna@gmail.com).
“We are so excited about the momentum we are building as an Association”, said Stephanie Shortall, president of the Villa Alumnae Association. “It was great to get together in person and to hear everyone’s enthusiasm and commitment to Villa.”
We need YOU: With all of the plans the Association has and the great ideas shared at the meeting, we need people to get involved. If you are interested in being on a committee, helping to plan an event, writing a spotlight piece, developing social media posts or anything else, please reach out to any member of the Alumnae Association Leadership Team or Committee Chairs to learn more.
