Free for students enrolled in the Transcend Program

Students will learn the basics of high-school essay composition and writing. Activities include pre-test, final evaluation with individual interview, audio/visual materials, "Jeopardy" grammar games, and essay/intro/thesis modeling. Students will be introduced to analysis techniques necessary for high school-level reading and interpretation. Readings will be works of poetry, short prose, long prose, and plays. This program will engage participants in a wide variety of unique and interesting problems that aren't always posed in a standard math class, and teach students numerous general problem-solving strategies that will give them the means to tackle difficult problems. Unlike a traditional math course, this program focuses more on the "how" of solving problems, giving students the confidence to think critically, a skill that transcends the classroom.
