The Sisters of St. Casimir Legacy Scholarship has been established by the Sisters to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to serving her community by living Villa’s Mission and Mother Maria’s Motto: “Always More, Always Better, Always with Love.” This scholarship is renewable for each of the student’s four years at Villa Joseph Marie as long as she remains in good academic and disciplinary standing.
This scholarship was established in 2015 by the Villa Joseph Marie Class of 1960, in celebration of the Class’s 55th reunion, to honor our school’s Foundress and to reward students who emulate her virtues with a one-time $1,000 tuition award. Applicants should be passionate advocates and activists for positive change in the areas of social justice, environment, science, medicine, engineering, arts, literature, or culture. 529 Plan Provision
A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan designed to encourage saving for future college costs. On December 22, 2017, new tax legislation was signed that includes a provision permitting 529 plan account owners to use assets to pay for qualified K-12 tuition expenses up to $10,000 per year, per student. Account owners can treat qualified K-12 withdrawals as qualified expenses with respect to the federal and Pennsylvania state tax benefits. For additional guidance on this new provision, please consult a qualified tax adviser about your personal situation.
