8th Graders

If you are an eighth grader, or are the parent of an eighth grader, congratulations! After a lot of hard work, you've made it to the top of your elementary school. Now is the time to begin preparing for your transition to a new phase of life — high school. Though change always has its ups and downs, at Villa Joseph Marie, we want this to be a great year for you. As you enjoy your eighth-grade year, don't miss these important activities and events at Villa, so you know you'll be prepared for your next educational step.

Shadow Days

Beginning Monday, September 23, 2019

The Shadow Day gives an eighth-grade girl a wonderful opportunity to spend the entire day shadowing a Villa Freshman to experience first-hand what a real day at Villa is like. Eighth graders are welcomed to the school in the morning by their "buddies" for the day and guided through a full school day. This is truly the best way to understand the family atmosphere that makes Villa the special place it is.

While the Shadow Day is not required, it is strongly recommended. Many Villa students report that their Shadow Day was the single most important deciding factor when they chose Villa. Appointments can be set up for these visits by contacting the Admissions Office. Shadow Days only occur from mid-September through mid-November, for eighth graders only. To schedule a Shadow Day, parents should contact Bailey Gorman, Admissions Associate, at 215-357-8810, ext. 209, or bagorman@vjmhs.org .

On the morning of the scheduled Shadow Day, eighth-grade visitors should enter through the front entrance to the school and report to the Main Office at 7:50 a.m. Villa will provide lunch and any materials they will need. Visitors should dress appropriately for school, and we request no jeans or cropped shirts. Pick-up is at the front entrance at 2 p.m.
