Sciathlon: October 18, 2019
The Science Department at Villa Joseph Marie High School would like to cordially invite your school to join us for our 30th Annual Sciathlon to be held on our campus on Friday, October 18, 2019. As in the past, teams of five seventh-grade female students and five eighth-grade female students will participate in three activities as they rotate through our state-of-the art science and math labs. New this year: We would also like to invite sixth-grade teams to participate. The competition will culminate in a game of Science Quizzo. For the first time ever, the entire team will participate in the final competition of the day in a 6-round game to test their science knowledge and team working skills.
As a reminder, each team may have no more than five members. Alternates may practice with the team, but on the day of Sciathlon, only five members of each team may compete. Students who are competing should arrive at Villa between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. The competition will begin promptly at 8:40 a.m. If a team arrives after the start time, they will be excluded from participation in the first round. Information regarding parking, dropping, and picking up students will be posted closer to the event. Teachers, parents, and any other adults who accompany the students are permitted to observe within the competition areas (and take pictures if they would like), but no coaching is permitted during the sessions. All are welcome to watch the concluding Quizzo round in the gymnasium. Aiding student competitors by mouthing answers during the Quizzo round will result in the disqualification of the team.
We hope that you can join us for this educational, fun-filled morning. We kindly ask that you RSVP before September 27, 2019. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you.
Registration coming soon!
