Our Principal

Valerie Prucnal, Principal of Villa Joseph Marie High School

Please join us in welcoming Valerie Prucnal as Villa Joseph Marie High School’s new principal as of July 2024.

Amassing nearly 25 years of experience in independent Catholic schools across the country, Ms. Prucnal most recently served as the Assistant Head of School for Academics at Merion Mercy Academy. In that role, she engaged with faculty, staff, students, and families for the purposes of strategic planning, launching new initiatives, and creating a welcoming environment to support the mission.

Moved by the mission of Villa and the Sisters of St. Casimir, Ms. Prucnal’s passion for developing the whole person will endear her to the Villa Community. She will help our students discern who they are and who God calls them to be. “I believe that educators have the opportunity and responsibility of guiding students as they develop to their fullest potential,” she said.

“I'm dedicated to inspiring, empowering, and unlocking opportunities for students, so that they may lead the change the world needs,” she said. Launching her career as a science teacher for Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, Ms. Prucnal made her way to Philadelphia in 2014, continuing her work in women’s education.

President Jeanne Frawley looks forward to partnering with Ms. Prucnal following a wide search that included candidates from multiple states and feedback from all campus stakeholders. “Valerie’s years of successful contributions to mission-driven schools, clear passion for women’s education, her track record in communicating with faculty teams, her curiosity in exploring best practices, and her collaborative approach to leadership all make her a fantastic fit for the Villa Community as we build our future,” said Ms. Frawley.
