Advanced Placement European History Summer Assignment

 Welcome to AP European History!

I am very excited to have you participating in this AP course being offered to serious history students. With that said, this class is going to be very intense in terms of content, assignments, and AP test preparation. To help lighten the load during the first few weeks of school, I have assigned a few things to be completed over the summer. By no means should this work compromise your summer break. I do, however, expect it to be completed and turned in on the first day of school as it will be graded. Your assignments can be found in the "Resources" listed below.

Please be sure to check the bulletins regularly as I will be adding study tips, helpful resources, etc. I will be available all summer to answer any question you may have. I can be reached via email at bflynnhensel@vjmhs.org at any time.

Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions, problems, or concerns!

Enjoy your summer, but don’t wait until the last minute to complete this assignment.

I look forward to seeing you in September!

Ms. Flynn Hensel

Supplemental Study Guides/Resources

Hello All:

I wanted to make you all aware of some really helpful AP European Study Guides and Resources. Some guides that have proven to be helpful to former AP European students are (but are not limited to): AP European Power Pack (SparkNotes Test Prep), The Princeton Review's Cracking the AP European History Exam (most recent edition), REA's The Best Test  Prep for the AP European Exam, Kaplan's AP European History, CliffsAP European History, etc.

These resources have proven successful in helping the students really understand and prepare for the May AP exam. Topics covered include study strategy, concepts and time periods that have traditionally been the focus on past AP exams, the breakdown of test questions and time contraints, as well as general standardized test taking tips.

By no means are the students required to purchase any of these materials. I just wanted to make you aware of the resources available should you be interested.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
